Politics is basically a phenomenon that is closely related to people’s lives. Humans are social creatures, dynamic and advanced creatures, constantly adapting to their environment. As members of society, individuals or groups are certainly bound by common values and rules recognized and recorded by society. Therefore, politics is always symptomatic and recognizes itself in the context of the process of human development. The above relationship prevents the main core of leaving humans in political reality, regardless of the reason for political observation or analysis. This shows that the essence of politics is human behavior, a form of activity or attitude that affects or maintains the order of society through the use of power. The exercise of constitutional power involves the distribution of political power, including issues. These include the sources of political power, the legitimization process, the ultimate power holders, the implementation of power, the duty functions of power, and the political goals that can be easily achieved. (Muhamad Rusdiyanto Puluhuluwa, n.d., p. 1)

Politics is not limited to activities related to decision-making, as Miriam Buriarjo argues and general politics (public policy), but also includes activities that will change the structure of society, such as: Regarding the word politics, Plato’s book entitled Politeia, also known as the Republic, was recognized for the first time. Furthermore, Aristotle’s work entitled “Politeia”. Both works are considered the basis for political thought that developed later. Every country has a particular political system, including Indonesia. The political system of each country is the "vein", which becomes the blood vessel of the sustainability of the country and the countries that are healthy and rich countries. The function of a healthy and rich political system exceeds the high expectations of the state to clarify the "blood flow" for the growth and development of various aspects of national life. These aspects of national life consist of Ideology, Politics and Economy, Social and Culture, Law, and Defense and Safety. The growth and development of these aspects should provide added value to the political system. (Anggara, 2013, p. vii)

The political system is a number of political structures that have their own functions to achieve national goals. The Political System Approach aims to provide a scientific explanation of political phenomena. The political system approach aims to replace the classical approach of political science, which is based solely on the analysis of the state and power. The political system approach is inspired by systems that execute beings. In the political systems approach, society is the concept of people. This is because the political system is just one of the structures that build society, such as the economic system, social system, culture, and belief system. The political system is also an abstraction (a reality grown for conceptual concepts) regarding the distribution of society’s values. (Anggara, 2013, p. 8)

The unit of the Political System is “political action”. Therefore, actions are not summarized in binding decisions. These actions shape other social systems that are identified as surrounding areas other than the political system. The political system is a system that wants to give value to with authoritative value in the middle of society. The political system serves to make decisions (decisions) and steps (steps) known as guidelines for setting values. The units of the political system according to Easton are political measures, and conditions such as the creation of laws, etc.

The same applies to ASEAN countries. ASEAN has a political history in each country.

ASEAN stands for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations or the Association of Southeast Asian Peoples. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations or ASEAN was founded on August 8, 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, and was established with the signature of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration) by five (5) member countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Brunei Dalsalam joined the company on January 7, 1984. There were 10 (10) member states in Vietnam on July 28, 1995, Laos and Myanmar on July 23, 1997, and Cambodia on July 23, 1997. On July 23, 1997, and Cambodia from April 30, 1999 to 2023. When ASEAN membership increased to 10 (10), the country showed that the establishment of ASEAN offered benefits and benefits to ASEAN members. There are five founding countries of ASEAN: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Therefore, every August 8 reminds us of ASEAN day.

Overall, ASEAN has succeeded in developing countries and nations, i.e. countries and nations, to meet their main challenges: people's efforts and requirements. Although there are some shortcomings, the progress of ASEAN countries is impressive compared to various past failures and national crises. The failure of the PKI coup in 1965 is one of the highlights of the field of life.
